The goal of NantBioRenewables is to “give back” to the environment by developing products that provide positive beginning-of-life (negative carbon footprint) and end-of-life (nutrients to the soil) properties, thereby offering consumers ecofriendly products as a choice over traditional plastics.

Our Story

NantBioRenewables is an innovative bioplastics company with the goal of providing simple solutions to the complex problems with single-use plastics waste. We use Ocean Calcium Sand in our formulations — a renewable type of calcium carbonate sand that naturally forms in the ocean. This unique mineral is biogenic in nature, renewable, and sustainable.

With this mineral at the core of what we do, we then formulate compounds and products that are sustainable, compostable, and biobased. While currently working with industrial compostable formulations, there is ongoing work to develop backyard and marine compostable products to address end-of-life concerns with the single-use waste stream. We believe this is where the best answer lies regarding single-use plastics waste. Additionally, Ocean Calcium Sand provides nutrients to plants, creating a more soil-friendly compost than our competitors. We look at the full life cycle of our products, from the birth of the raw materials to their end-of-life, to ensure sustainability every step of the way.

The unique renewable mineral at the heart of our products also improves the integrity and strength of our products, providing an environmentally conscious alternative without sacrificing performance. Our product launch schedule includes food and consumer goods product packaging, disposable food service items (straws, cutlery, trays, clamshells, etc.), bags, 3D filament, and a variety of other applications.
